Feliz Ano Nuevo -
Happy New Year 2009
to all my Blog readers

Jan 2nd
Quiet day today. The pups had their monthly flea & tic treatment and can't get wet for a couple of days so everyone missed the beach.
The park is quiet with watching the football games at the restaurant the only excitement.
Our friends from Arizona should be here either tomorrow or Sunday. They're bringing us a supply of something you can't find here... liquid flavored coffee mate.

Jan. 3rd
It's been kind of overcast the last couple of days. Almost looks like it might rain but all the clouds are doing is raising the humidy. But the temperature is still in the mid 80's during the day with a nice little breeze.
Because of the humidy we've had to use the air conditioner a few times... its not that expensive as far as electricity costs and worth it to be comfortable. In addition, the overcast skies are not helping the solar panels generate much juice.
Regardless of the temperature the pups still want to go to the beach and after not going for a couple of days they played themselves out chasing the ball in and out of the surf.
We decided to treat ourselves for supper. Diane took a turkey out of the freezer we brought with us on the trip and made a great turkey dinner with all the trimmings.
Our friends from Arizona didn't arrive yet today so we expect them tomorrow. I hope we're back from the Sunday market in El Ranchito before they get here.

We decided to wait for Fred and Sherry's arrival before going to the market in El Faro.
They arrived about mid morning and after getting their motorhome situated they joined us on our market trip and stocked up on fruit and veggies as well. The one thing I noticed about the El Ranchito market is that its best to get their early. This was the first time we got there about noon and already a number of vendors had packed up and left.
None of us had lunch so we stopped in San Juan de Alima on the way home and had lunch at the Trinidad hotel. This was our first time there this year but had eaten there several times last year.
The rest of the day was spent talking with Fred and Sherry and watching Fred unload his basement to find things to set up camp.

I needed to do a few things in town today so Fred accompanied me for a tour of La Placita. He got to see where the ATM is located and where one of the main grocery stores was. I also wanted to get the car washed as it had gotten pretty dirty with a combination of going to the beach and dust from the gravel roads. Fred was impressed with the job they did at the car wash and took his car to be washed later in the day.
The car isn't kept clean for any length of time as when we got back to Rancho B. the pups were jumping up and down wanting to go to the beach. Wet dogs with their feet full of sand jumping into the back of the Jeep and then shaking doesn't help keep the car very clean.
Three campers left the park today and one new one from Quebec came in. Sandy and Cynthia hope to see more come in this month.

Hayley got her haircut today. The whole morning was spent with me holding her either on a table outside on the patio or on my lap while Diane had the clippers going.  The results were worth the work as she looks good minus a lot of hair.
It was a "hair day" at the park as a friend of Cynthia who is a hairdresser visited and cut several people's hair. He's returning in a couple of days and Diane is having some coloring put in her hair.
It was also a sad day for Sandy and Cynthia as they had to call the veterinarian to have their Dalmation dog Wax put down. Wax was 13 years old and has been really sick the last couple of months.
In the afternoon Stan and Linda Binns and another couple from La Penita stopped by to visit and to check out Rancho B. They've been going to La Penita RV park for several years but thought they'd check out other possibilities.
In the evening we went with Fred and Sherry to La Placita and introduced them to our favorite place to have tacos. They too agreed that they just might be the best tacos in Mexico.
We heard from our friends Bruce and Ginette who we traveled with from Texas. They're enjoying their stay in Zihuatanejo and we made plans to visit them for a few days next week.

The wind picked up today and blew things around. We had to take our umbrella down and if we didn't have the additional screen that's attached to our awning tied down, the wind sensor on our awning might have retracted it.
The temperature is still warm as is the water and with the stiff breeze, there's not a bug to be found.
J.C. and his wife Dorothy, campers here at Rancho B. gave sand castle building lessons today at the beach. It was interesting how you need to mix both wet and dry sand together to get it to stick together.
I contacted MotoSat/DataStorm again to try and get our internet system working. The technition I've been working with agreed to a Skype/Telephone connection tomorrow morning. I hope we can finally get things figured out.
